Hey y'all. For all of those who are friends with me on facebook, you'll already know this. But, I'll mention it anyway. I went to the Pep Rally at Gample Pavilion for UConn's Men's Basketball team. The Lord blessed them with a victory Monday night and they came back to UConn as National Champions! It was amazing to see them walk in! Everyone went NUTS cheering! You could feel the energy exuding from everyone. It was an amazing feeling. It was like being on top of the world. I just wanted to stop and soak it all in. Seeing the joy on the basketball players' faces was a great feeling too. You could clearly see that they were feeling sky high!
As I sit here at home reliving it all, though, a sinking feeling has begun to set in. I have this longing to know that these guys are saved, that this isn't their ultimate source of joy. The only place ultimate joy can come from is from the Lord. He's blessed us with providing sources of temporary sources of joy here on Earth, but they're only temporary. He is the only One who can give lasting joy. I thought this was a good reminder for me. It makes me wonder what I rely on to give me joy. Do I look at the Lord as my ultimate source of joy or do I seek to fill His space with something from this world? I think that this is a good question for all of us to ask ourselves.
Finally, I would like to ask you all to be praying for the men on this team and for their coach Jim Calhoun. The Lord has placed a burden for them on me. Please be praying that this will not be their only joy, that they will know the joy that only the Lord can give.
"In Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." - Psalm 16:11
You ask a very good question. One worthy of much thought and prayer. Thanks. :)
